Regardless of how this plays out. What I was told and reported, has not happened. That's 100% on me. I was told and said a deal was done, and only needed approval from the NHL. If that was the case, the deal would be done today. Sincere apologies to everyone.

Ottawa is still trying to get Bobby Ryan into the deal...this could take a while to sort out.

I'm pretty sure our forum insider said the Sens were pretty much sold already in December according to his reliable sources. Perhaps the new owners just wanted to get rid of Karlsson first before making it official...
I tried my best to lure him out... his cave burrows deeper into the ground than I first thought.
... see what I did there?... I'll show myself out now.

Of course EK isn’t moving yet
"For I am a sinner in the hands of an angry God. Bloody Mary, full of vodka, blessed are you among cocktails. Pray for me now and at the hour of my death, which I hope is soon. Amen." - Sterling Archer
"Don't spray that urine on my sons window. If you want a dollar for doing nothing, walk to Canada." - Malory Archer
“Anyone who thinks the pen is mightier than the sword has not been stabbed with both.” - Lemony Snicket
The number of NTC & NMC on the Lightning and Ottawa plus the cap factors on such wonderful contracts as Ryan Callahan is what is mucking up the deal.
Yzerman gets a lot of love for his management prowess as is his due, but the Callahan deal is a major stink bomb.
About half the Lightning have a NTC and NMC in their contracts and virtually the ENTIRE blueline !
How do you make a move for EK under such circumstances ? It makes a tough job even harder. Bloody impossible more likely.
The names being thrown around are the only guys who don't have NTC in their contracts and of course the quality players on entry level contracts that keep the Lightning so competitive.
So Tampa signs JT Miller to an extension then deals him to Siberia err Ottawa ? That sends a great message to younger players who negotiate with Tampa in the future doesn't it ?
I suppose if they win a cup then JT can get bent and its all water under the bridge, but wow are the Lightning struggling with a situation of their own making.
Then add in boat anchor Bobby Ryan with a NTC & NMC ? Yeah he is going to accept a move to a team like the sabres... not.
I think Vegas is a better fit but GMGM isn't going to pay full freight on a motivated seller like the Senators.
Maybe one day someone will write a book about what has been happening over the past few weeks/months so we can read about the drama. It will make for some good reading that much is sure.
And just to be clear, I am not saying Tampa shouldn't try to land EK, only that their previous contract decisions are now at issue. Everything is on the table. All the warts, scars and red headed step children.
They NEED a 3rd team and the assets they need to pay that 3rd team ON TOP OF the treasure forked over for Karlsson makes this a potential whale of a deal.
It will also likely affect the balance of play in the next few seasons as well.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
