This is good for JC and his owners as it’ll keep the Caps from trying Niskanen on the PP and trading for guys like Shattenkirk over the past few seasons. I get that some of that was due to injury at times but it was annoying to see that stuff happen when he was healthy.

I'm not really surprised given the phenomenal year the Caps had this season. Must be hard for UFAs coming off a Stanley Cup win. And to Washington's credit, they didn't short change him.

I think it's a good signing. ALOT of money but he was getting it from someone. D men like Carlson don't exactly grow on trees.

Now that he's back, how do you guys think the rest of the D splits the remaining PP time? They seem to have quite a few options.

Looking at their personnel it seems to make more sense to go 4F 1D on both units. So Carlson on PP1 and Niskanen on PP2.
