Will an 18 yr old quarterback the PP1? I have Risto and confident his numbers remain the same, maybe boost knowing he has Dahlin on his heels
so for my league that counts SoG/Hits/Blocked Shots, Risto is still around a top 10-12 dman, with Dahlin coming to BUF and probably taking PP1 minutes from Risto should I look for options to move Risto while I can or am I a little too worried?

You'd think it's in the realm of possibility. However, given teams lately seem to go 4F 1D it seems unlikely. I think there are obviously three possibilities
1. Dahlin comes in and is everything the hype advertised - snatching PP1 immediately from Risto
2. Dahlin isn't QUITE PP1 ready and Risto holds the reins for this season or longer (though given the potential for Dahlin, you'd think it's only a matter of time).
3. To ease Dahlin in, they run a 3F 2D before eventually handing over the reins.
I feel its more likely that they do 2 or 3 as this isn't the same as Buffalo knows they have a PP threat in Risto. However, I would perhaps casually begin testing the market for Ristolainen within your league. If there is a good offer, I'd say its tough to pass up given the potential for Dahlin to Usurp. However, don't go fire sale by any means.

Risto remains a 40+pt Dman who offers huge periph stats.

also take into consideration the increasing number of dmen putting up 40+pts...
Last year 19 D had 50+ pts, 30 had 40+
16/17 - 9 D had 50+pts, 22 had 40+
15/17 - 9D had 50+ & 25 had 40+
Need to remember Buf was a very poor team last year with a miserable PP as well. There's more than enough room for 2 - 40pt Dmen on Buffalo moving forward 40pts is not a holy grail of points.
The biggest value in Risto is his periphs. Very few Dmen with his offensive potential give his level of peripheral stats. his hits/blocks won't diminish.

I think Dahlin will help Risto stats

I don't think Risto and Dahlin play the PP together. Pretty sure they run 4F with Eichel at the blueline in a quarterback type position. My guess would be Dahlin gets PP2 time his first year but after that it'll probably be his show from there on out.

It was mentioned in an article on this site recently. So much of Risto's value is tied to his PP production (over 50% of his points). When Dahlin takes the PP1 spot, Risto will become just another 30 point dman with solid peripherals (EJ, Nurse, Martinez, etc.). And since he's approaching 400 GP, he's getting closer to what he is and is gonna be. If I had him, I'd be selling high on him now.
Very good thread. As a Risto. owner I've been curious about this as well. One thread to revisit in the summer/early fall. I too might be looking to move Risto. this off season.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.
Another thing to keep in mind is if the rumours that Buffalo would maybe be willing to move Risto, though for the life of me I cannot figure out why, then I think it likely they keep him on the PP1 to boost his stats and his value at the beginning of the year.

With your league counting SOG/HIT/BLKS even if Dahlin snatches the PP1 I'd argue for Risto having more value. His stat totals are dynamite and 10 point difference I think is negligible if that even becomes the case.
You don't really have anyone else on your team that is replacing that.
