who would you rather have

If your in a rebuild (full multi cat with TOI) who would you rather have

Ullmark + Honka + top 10 pick
Or
S.Theodore + Sorokin + moving down from 17ish to 13ish in the 1st rnd

Based only on the information at hand, I'd lean to the Theodore side, but it may help to clarify what "top 10 pick" means. Is it #10 in this year's NHL entry draft? A chance at a pick anywhere from 1 to 10? A pick in some other kind of draft? The answer to what "top 10 pick" means is the most significant variable in analyzing this offer.

Theodore Side. He could be a TOI beast someday.

And I guess that depends what top 10 pick is... 1st - 3rd less enticing. 4-6 even... 7-10 you are ahead.

In a rebuild, I'd probably want to gamble on Sorokin over Ullmark (but this really depends on your tolerance for risk). Ullmark could be a starting goalie in Buffalo this year or next, and it's still not certain that Sorokin ever crosses the point. But unless I'm desperate and need more certainty about NHL status, I do Sorokin.

I easily like Theodore over Honka.

13th pick versus "top 10"? Unless that pick is top 5, it's not enough to swing me from the Sorokin side of the deal.

But yeah, lots of unknowns here. I'm just going by what is known....
