I like Skinner but I think they need to focus more on Defense. Plus, they have oodles of very good Forward prospects and guys already playing. IE Boeser. Not sure if giving up that 7th overall is worth it.
Rumblings out of Vancouver that theyre seriously kicking tires on D Noah Hanifin. It's been said they are wanting to add size up front.. not sure who that would be from Vancouver *cough* Jake Virtanen *cough* but I feel that he would not be enough to land former 5th round pick Noah Hanifin... I thought of this proposal..
Noah Hanifin
Jeff Skinner (Daniel Sedins replacement)
For
Jake Virtanen
7th Overall
Thoughts?

Well as it stands right now, they only have Baertschi, Granlund, Eriksson, Gaunce and Leipsic.. not exactly flashy. I'm sure if they did that deal they then could trade Tanev plus Baertschi for another younger Right shot defender. Then your top 6 forward and 6
defence group would look like this... (This is projection of course)
Skinner - Horvat - Boeser
Eriksson - Petterson - Dalhen
Hanifin - (Dmen in Tanev deal)
Juolevi - Stecher
Edler - Gudbranson
I doubt the Hurricanes would want anything to do with this offer

Well, I can guarantee Carolina won't let him go for Virt and the 7th overall. For what they'd want, not worth it in my opinion. I think they need to continue with building from within. They've got guys like Horvat, Boeser, Dahlen, Pettersen and Gaudette. Two legit great players and some very talented prospects.

I think Hanifin costs more than the 7th overall. And even if Carolina trades Skinner, I'm not sure Virtanen gets it done.
I'm a Canucks fan but I can't see Canes touching this. Not sure this would get Hanifin alone honestly. Can't see Virtanen having much value and with Carolina having a nice prospect pool and the 2nd overall pick I dunno if they'd be too interested in 7th but who knows.

I think there is pretty good value being offered by both sides in this hypothetical but I don't know if either side would be satisfied. Skinner should bag a ton of assets if and when he's traded. Noah Hanifin alone should get them 3-4 good pieces.
In return they would be getting the 7th overall pick for no picks in return. We know how hard it is to get a top 10 pick, so I am not devaluing the pick, but I don't know if another pick is what Carolina wants. I think they want to right this ship quickly, not build for 5 years from now. Virtanen is a good player but I don't know if he moves the needle enough for Carolina to consider this.
Vancouver gets a great young blueliner in Hanifin, but they surrender a top pick who would presumably fit into their young core that's expected to emerge in 1 or 2 years as a force. And I think they know now that Skinner isn't going to get them over the hump this year.

The Canes hang up on this deal lol
Can't see the Canes trading Hanifin ( at least not seriously ). I get new regime in town and some trades most likely will be made such as Skinner, but me thinks Hanifin stays in Carolina.
Some times the Canucks sports media act as if they can make something happen if they talk about it enough. TSN 1040 is particularly bad for this.
Canes likely would want a goalie and a centre and Canucks have neither.
