And just like that Canada and Mexico steel industries will practically shutdown. Starting at midnight the tariffs will be in effect. The trickle down effect is going to be nuts.

I will point out, this could be lifted with the NAFTA negotiations about to start, but it's nowhere near what the city of Hamilton needs.

next would be gas getting tariffs. Canada sends crude oil over, gets refined, and we get gasoline back. That, if I'm Trump, would be the next thing I try and target.

This is not great. But, maybe increases the cargo-ship industry with Steel mills in Europe/UK getting a lot more business.

Any time I've made a non-hockey thread that wasn't vanilla, the forum police inevitably complain about stuff like that not belonging on a hockey forum.
If it's political (like this one) or gender-related, a few are licking their chops for a reason to shut it down.

So our headoffice (we weld I-Beams and C-Channels and what not) just told us they're scrambling to adjust all quotes to add the 25% cost we're getting hit on and transfering it right to the customer. As I'm not totally ok with that as our head guys make millions easily, it's what everyone will do. Pass the cost onto the customer.

Car prices are going to be insane. Look up the autoplants in southern ontario alone. We build stuff for their plants, think they won't add that cost to your car? Yeah, it'll be expensive to buy a new car soon if this holds. Which raises the demand for used cars, which raises the price you can sell it for.

Trickle down is going to kill people. Hamilton housing market could very well crash too, as people can't afford to be here.
