If Fleury continues this play, he might be the first loser of the cup, but winner of the Conn since JS Giguere
Now that we know the Finals we can start having a serious discussion about this....
Does Fleury have this locked down regardless of who wins the Cup??
There hasn't been a winner from outside North America since Malkin in 2009.....given that this is voted on by the PHWA does anyone else believe in the NA bias of this award?? If so....more reason to think Fleury takes it over Ovie or Kuz.
If Fleury continues this play, he might be the first loser of the cup, but winner of the Conn since JS Giguere

I think there are 4 guys that could win it.
Vegas wins cup in high scoring series: Marchessault (VGK)
Vegas wins cup in low scoring series: Fleury (VGK)
Caps win cup, player has key moments: Ovechkin (WAS)
Caps win cup, player has key moments: Kuznetsov (WAS)
It would take a hell of a series for anybody else to emerge... maybe 2 GWG by somebody like Reilly Smith or William Karlsson... even John Carlson.
It's still wide-open, IMO.
Holtby hasn't allowed a goal in 159:27. If he continues in the finals - sorry MAF.
If Ovie puts up a solid finals - say 4-4 - 8pts and the Caps win, then enter him to the conversation. If Wsh wins the cup, expect Ovie to get the Conn Smythe... sorry MAF
just remember Crosby won the trophy, even though Kessel had several more points & was dominant every game (2016).
It would be an exclamation point on the playoffs for Ovie - and those optics will not be overlooked.

It'll be Ovechkin or Fleury, depending on who wins the Cup.
Just to say Giguere’s 2003 stats when he won the Conn Smythe.
21GP, 15W, 6L, 659saves (31.38/game), 0.945s%, 1.62GAA, 5Shutouts.
Fleury’s 2018:
15GP, 12W, 3L, 487saves (32.47/game), 0.947s%, 1.68GAA, 4Shutouts
Does Fleury have an outside shot at winning the Smythe if Vegas loses? I would say so depending on what Ovi/Kuz/Holtby does in the series.

Ovi for Wash and MAF for VGK, i could also see Kuzy getting it as well if Washington wins.
If Washington wins Ovechkin should get the Conn Smythe, with Fleury being a close 2nd
If Vegas wins Fleury has already won the Conn Smythe

I think given all the story lines the winning team is getting the Conn Smythe
Washington: Ovy is the favourite but Holtby could take it with a strong finals
Vegas: Fleury or... nope that's it; Fleury! That would cap-off a Stanley Cup threepeat for MAF!!

Holtby can still definitely put himself in the conversation if he's a stone wall in net
