Hearing the Sharks and Evander Kane have agreed to a long-term contract extension. Numbers may be in the 7-years 7-million per range.

I like Kane a lot. Not this much though.

I have a feeling they are going to regret this by the middle of next year. 7 million for a 40 point player wth a bad reputation? Wow. Just asking for trouble imo.
The guy only played 17 regular season games and 9 playoff games for San Jose and they are solely basing it on those 26 games? I guess anything can happen but this guy has been bust up until now and he will be 27 by the start of the season.
A lot of agents will be smiling if he gets that contract.
I get the fact that the Sharks have lots of cap space heading into this off-season, but I agree that this isn't the smartest money spent. Then again, I've never been a big fan of EKane anyway. Let them waste their money.

They also have to give Buffalo their first rounder now. Not sure I like this deal for San Jose, although if they want to pry their window open a few more years I see what they're doing. The money is slightly too high, but its the 7 years is what really bothers me.

@FriedgeHNIC: This is also good news for BUF, which gets a first-rounder if Kane re-signs https://t.co/eWolIlFEb2

If this was the cost to re-sign Kane I would gladly let him walk just to keep the 1st round pick. This is just bad cap/asset management.

I honestly think he fits very well in San Jose , but at that cost i figured they would just let him walk and keep the 1st. It's a big investment but who knows it may work out well for them in the end, hes still fairly young.

What a terrible contract... how did EKane's agent pulled that one off?
Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.
Based on my model it's about market value. Sharks are trying to stay competitive in the older years of Pavelski and while they have Jones/Burns locked up. Honestly I can't blame them. Kane fit very well with them and I think fits him better than a lot of other places. I am less weary owning him in fantasy next season than if he had signed in many other markets.
