Not touching that trade with a 10 foot pole. Quality over quantity.

This is now the worst trade offer I've ever seen out here.

And just to add I just got Mathews 2 days ago. I traded borgstrom, aho (Carolina) and palat for Mathews and 10th overall this entry draft.

cap league or not, it is a ridiculous offer.

I'd counter and ask him to throw in McDavid and Laine (just tell him to acquire those guys if he doesn't have them already).

So after some back and forth he?s willing to start the conversation with his 2nd overall. And I know the guy who has the 1st overall will be taking svechnikov (d men are not as valued as elite wingers). So dahlin plus those prospects like Thomas, brown and his 2019 1st a fair trade?

Not for me. You're still getting a lot of unknowns for a kid we already know is going to be a massive star for years.

Why would you trade Matthews for a slew of unknowns who, it's probably safe to say, will never come close to getting to Matthews level. This is still quantity for quality. Now, maybe if Dahlin becomes a massive star, then maybe I can see making a deal along these lines, but until that happens, I am keeping Matthews. Not to mention, you say that Dmen aren't as valued as forwards in your league.

Get a young stud in the NHL in the package with some of those pieces and then you should consider trading Matthews. Until that happens, I am keeping Matthews.

You got him very cheap, especially getting that high pick thrown in. Is there a serious fear of big salary players in your league? Is it extremely difficult to fit them under the cap? Not sure why his name is getting tossed around like that.

the fear of high cap players is real in our league. Superstar players get traded all the time. At one point kessel and kopitar were FA. In our league it?s anout best production to cap dollar. We have 25 man rosters and our cap will be 85 mil. That?s an avg of 3.5 mil per player. ELC and controlled contracts like a rakell, couturier and a Gallagher are coveted.

Well, you need to pick your high cap guys, and work around them. Part of the issue with a league is finding the right cap for the number of teams you have. Matthews should retain his value, so I'd hold him. That sort of deal will be there going forward.

I wouldn't trade Matthews for that package if I was under duress.

well, if you go back to last season, especially Kopitar, no way you could justify him at 60pts & 10.5m. at 92pts, on the right team. Similar to Kessel & 70pts at 7mil with no periphs.

but with AM. you're looing at 1 more year at ELC & 85+pts. If you move AM, it's next year. not now.
