There's a catch-22 here. With no equipment guys everyone has to learn to tie their own skates but as we've found out any dman who can tie his own skaes starts at $4 million. Probably best to take the hit and hire equipment staff.

I live about 20 minutes from PNC Arena and have 7 years of house league goalie experience (8-14 years old), so that should probably get me to the top of their emergency backups list, right?

But seriously, I know nothing about RBA's coaching style. I think his position was something like Assistant Coach and Player Development before he was promoted, so maybe that bodes well for the younger players coming up (Zykov, Svechnikov/Zadina, Wallmark, etc).

Good for Hot Rod - hope it works out well for him. I've met Brind'Amour a few times; he's legitimately the coolest guy you'll ever meet. Very grounded, friendly, and down-to-earth.

Probably too expensive to do that. I guess they just added more responsibility to Rod without a salary bump.

They also gave the GM job to their president so that they don't need to pay two salaries.

I'm guessing they'll soon fire their assistant coaches and scouts to save more money.

Maybe he's following Doug Ford's plan, and has identified $6 billion in efficiency savings...?
