Was time to go, to many trade deadline mistakes (Hanzal and Moulson are teh big ones) and missed on some free agents (Vanek, Pominville, Stewart). Had his good moves (Dubnyk) but just didnt balance out and ownership didnt trust him

Thought he did a pretty decent job generally with some good signings, including Boudreau. But they hadn't gotten past the first round, so you need as the owner said, a "fresh set of eyes".

Maybe he even ends up in Carolina!

I dont think he did that bad a job but I can understand why the ownership wanted a change. Eventually doing the same thing again and again gets old. Luckily their owner has deep pockets so even with a few misses on the books they can ice a good team.

12 team H2H Most Cats Wins; Keep 6/winner keeps 7; G A PPP +/- SHP SOG HIT BLK PIM // W SV GAA SV% SHO
    3 C, 3 LW, 3 RW, 6D, 2G, 5 bench

There's nothing wrong with Suter's contract. He's worth it (probably underpaid by a few million) now and will be worth it when he's 40. He's a great player.

Paul Fenton is a great choice for the job. The Oilers should've fired Chiarelli and hired him when they had the chance.

I will agree that Suter's contract isn't horrible, but I can't comprehend the part in bold. Underpaid by a few million?? He is making $9 million this year and the next two after that before it drops to $8 million. You seriously think he is worth $12 million a year?

And although his salary of $1 million is good for a 40 year old, it is the cap hit that will hurt. Having a cap hit of $9 million for a player from the age of 37-40 will definitely hurt the team.

Again, this isn't as bad as Parise's contract, but Suter's contract is still going to be tough to manage as he gets older and can no longer play a top pairing role.

Right, sorry. I meant his cap hit. The market value for Suter would be around 9-10M.

I like how the suter and parise contracts are so long that they were signed before the 7/8 year limits were put into place and will still be in place when current cba expires (pending an nhlpa/nhl ext. course)
