Thoughts On Giroux’s hit?
Game 2 was predictable in my opinion. I know thats easy to say after the fact but they had to be better than game 1 and Pittsburgh isn't as good as they were in game 1. This will be a 6 or 7 game series.
I am biased though. That’s why I asked for other opinions. And it does look like giroux was able to protect him self and even looks like he came off his feet a bit at the end. Can it be seems as a protect himself, probably, but it also might be seen as charging by coming off feet.
Other factors:
- Letang came back into the game (positive for Flyers)
- Crosby complained about it (negative for Flyers)

I thought it looked more like Giroux looked back and jumped into him when he saw Letang there. After the Doughty suspension & Kadri's... I think Giroux gets at least 1 game, the puck was in another zone at the time of the contact. I wouldn't be surprised to see a multiple game suspension... or nothing.
Edit: no hearing for Giroux

Yes Giroux saw him coming at the last second, and yes he positioned his body to take the impact (I wouldn't call it a jump). The thing is though, that Giroux was off balance from just disengaging with another player, and could not get out of Letang's way. It was complete self-defence. Had Letang seen Giroux as well, he would have braced himself and this would be a moot point as an accidental collision. Letang only got the worst of it because he didn't have the same split second to brace himself like Giroux did.

Giroux saw him coming but couldn't change course.

Giroux and Letang was a collision to me and nothing more.
But I am so glad that this is now a series. Doesn't have the same hate as 2012 yet, but now it looks like it can go 6 or 7. Excited!!!

Can Philadelphia really beat Pittsburgh? And if they do, what are their chances at making the Conference Finals? I'm doing my playoff box pool. Doing 4 Stanley Cup Final scenarios: WPG vs PHI, NSH vs PHI, WPG vs TB, NSH vs TB. I was going to throw in Pittsburgh but my brother has the Pittsburgh side so one of us will win it ... lol I hope.
My biased response... yes! Haha.
More in depth answer... if Philly is in the head of Pittsburgh then yes they can beat them. Just like how Washington can’t get by Pittsburgh in the playoffs. If they end up beating Pitts I think they can make it to conference finals because Washington and Columbus are not the scariest opponents. I don’t think they get by Boston or Tampa though.

Screw it. I'm going to do 4
WPG vs TB
WPG vs BOS
NSH vs TB
NSH vs BOS
