    Cool MacKinnon a keeper ?

    With the following scoring stats:
    Points based scoring: G(2), A(2), PPP(1), SHP(1), Hat trick(1), SOG(.1), Hit/Blk(.1)
    8 teams, 13 player roster, star 7F, 2D, 1G, 3Bench

    Player roster listed in signature.

I?m looking at McDavid and Kucherov as keepers. 3rd keeper Crosby, Laine, Kane, Ovechkin ?

If MacKinnon would be my 3rd keeper, I?m pretty sure I can swing a deal for him.

    Thoughts ?

We are reducing our roster size as well as changing from Roto to Points based scoring next season 2018-19

I'm going to say no based on you having Ovechkin & Crosby as options.

    Wow, incredibly stacked.

My vote is to keep McDavid, Kucherov, Crosby (who in my opinion are the top 3 in a keeper league), and sell the rest for whatever picks you can get. Even with only 24 players being kept, Ovi/Laine/Kane should all hold some value.

    Appreciate the replies, thanks.

I’m leaning towards Crosby at this point.
Our league doesn’t allow for trading of draft picks. Tried to get it added for next season. But it was voted down.

I don’t think you can get better than McDavid, Crosby and Kucherov... if it was my team, I would probably swap Kucherov for MacKinnon but I’m being biased here since I’m a huge fan.

Agree with D -Cros and Ovi 1 year older. McD, Kuch, & NMack could be top 3 scorers for years to come.

Do positions play? Center vs winger or is it just forwards?

I still keep Crosby as my 3rd here. I love Mack but I need more than one year of production like this to keep him over Corsby (or Ovie for that matter).
    Without me, it's only "aweso".

That roster is insane. It is a damn shame you aren't permitted to trade for draft picks. The top 3 picks in next years draft are likely to be McDavid, Crosby and Kucherov so it makes sense to keep them. I understand it being a keeper and people prefer a bit of youth to Crosby but why not set yourself up to win this year and next? Win now, get youth when the best player in the world is over the hill.

From the thread title I thought you were trolling... haha

Not worth a deal if you are sitting on Crosby & Ovi as your throw-away options.

These were my thoughts exactly... keep those three and trade the others for high picks!

Chances are you are going to finish high enough that you won't be able to re-draft any of these guys... so trade them for as early of picks as you can!

I'd hold onto Crosby as your 3rd. Like a few others have said, MacKinnon will likely surpass Crosby's production long-term at some point. For this year and next at the very least though, Crosby is the better bet in my mind. He hasn't slowed down yet, and with linemates who have been inconsistent at best. MacKinnon has great chemistry going with the young guys in Colorado, but I think he's more prone to see some negative regression than Crosby next season.

I say roll the dice with MacK - A core of Kucherov, McDavid, and MacKinnon; the oldest of whom is 24, sets your core up beautifully for the next 5 years at a minimum.

Can't trade draft picks? That's the most insane rule I've ever heard (unless it's in place to protect a bunch of GMs that don't know much about hockey).

In terms of Crosby versus Mack, it's hard to say without knowing how much your league overvalues youth. But I'd probably keep Crosby. He'll be good for a number of years yet and you'll find a replacement in a keep 3 pretty easy once he starts to decline...
