The @MapleLeafs announced that the hockey club has acquired forwards Tomas Plekanec and Kyle Baun from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Rinat Valiev, Kerby Rychel and Toronto’s second round draft pick in 2018.

Canadiens retain 50% of his contract.
Rychel and Valiev weren't going to make the lineup it seemed. Wish we saw what Kerby could actually do, but curious if this makes Pleks a 4th liner, or do they move Bozak and Pleks is the 3rd liner. I actually grew fond of Moore over the last few weeks

Apparently he vetoed a trade to the Jets because he wanted to stay on the East Coast

Montreal has 4 2nd rounders now. That's surprising actually, just didn't see that happening. Chicagos (Weise trade), Caps (Eller trade), and now the Leafs (or maybe SJS, we don't know which one yet)

Feel like he's a typical "pumped up value" guy from the Leafs. 5/6/7th defenseman.
Rychel is a UFA, and Valiev is an RFA at the end of the season.

I would have made the deal just for the 2nd rounder.
If one of Rychel or Valiev becomes a serviceable NHLer, it's gravy.
