Almost every "rental" deal for a big name player is a overpayment.. This is no different.. I actually commend Don Sweeney for making a push and showing his team he means business.. Especially Chara!!

We are all talking like Ryan Spooner is a stud and Ryan Lindgren is going to be one..

Overpayment? Yes. Going all in? YES!!

What I like least about this is setting the bar for next deals.

Devils get grabner for a 2nd, then pit gets brassard for a first and now Nash for a first. Scary to guess what Hoffman and others will get or maybe they don't get moved now

To add I know there were more parts in those trades but just looking at draft pick costs

Spooner's shift from centre to wing really improved his game. But he's 25 turning 26, so he's kinda hit his talent limit right? There won't be a role change in NYR, so it would be if he gets chemistry with someone out of nowhere. Like he's a 50-60pt guy max

I can actually see the Rangers trading Spooner soon for more futures.

I'm sure Gorton will trade Spooner for a 2nd + mid level prospect. Good haul for NYR if so, don't know how they convinced BOS to retain 50% on Belesky and still give up all that.

I agree, Spooner could surprise with the change of scenery.. But with all the youth coming into the B's lineup this season, Spooner was definitely expendable..

Definite overpayment here, but welcome to rental season!!

This is actually the only part of the deal I really don't like for the Bruins.. They paid alot for Nash, but damn that Belesky money hurts!!

Just 1.9mill for the next 2.25 seasons tho. Seidenberg is making more to not play on the Bruins this season than Belesky.

While I dont disagree with you, how exactly do you put this type of evaluation on Nash? What are you evaluating him on?

The Nash deal, from a fantasy perspective (at least what I think):

Agreed this a not a good deal for Bruins....that's a lot to pay for a guy not even on pace for 40 pts and is a shadow of his former self.
