Really? I thought they got him for nothing.
1st/Belesky cancel out
Lindgren + Spooner is decent I guess.
Looking forward to see if the Habs are going to trade Pacio after that deal....

Oh wait just saw that Nash AND Beleksy contracts are retained 50%.
That's not so bad for the rangers then, I kind of like their return now.
50% Nash retained salary.
Spooner has been playing well of late for Boston and just turned 26 last month.
With Bergeron's injury last night, maybe Boston felt more pressure to get this done, although Nash can't replace him.
Holy cow. Can't believe they got a 1st and sponner for Nash.
I wish spooner when to a different team. Offense seems to be too spread in NY don't see him doing much there but should get more chances atleast

Quick take on the NYR-BOS trade: From a lineup perspective, BOS effectively traded Spooner for Nash. Nash likely a fit on 2nd line with Krejci and DeBrusk. BOS likes it 3rd line of Riley Nash-David Backes-Danton Heinen, so Spooner not a fit there and he’s not effective 4th liner
So Spooner became expendable and including him was also an inducement for BOS to lose the Matt Beleskey contract, well, half of it anyway. Don’t ever underestimate the value of buying cap space for a cap team like BOS. BOS is loaded with picks and prospects, so...
giving up a first-rounder and Lindgren to upgrade to a bigger, stronger, older, more experienced top six winger is well worth the price, in a year where BOS is a legit threat. That said, no guarantees who comes out of the TB-BOS-TOR Atlantic Division triangle.

Lindgren wont be a great fantasy option but has top four potential and brings a lot of leadership qualities.
I just can't understand why Nash is that valuable. He's on pace for less than 40 points and Spooner is on pace for 50 points and that's just comparing those two on face value. I know, Nash has playoff experience but he's also proven to be a playoff bust at times as well.
I just dont see the value in this trade for Boston.
