1st place clinched - to sell off and who to keep?
First another thank you to dobberites for my 2nd championship in as many years, couldn't have done it without this site and great community. With 4 weeks left in the regular season I've clinched 1st place and the big money with a 16-2 record (2nd place is 4.5 games back).
We do have another $160 up for grabs for the playoff champion (3 weeks top 8 teams make it. The team that wins 3 games straight wins the $160).
Questions 1:
2 keepers. Who are you keeping on my team? Team in Sig.
Question 2:
The draft is where the money is made in this league. I have the following picks next season from trades I've made this year:
1,1,2,3,4,4,5,5,6,7,8. It's an 11 round draft and I'm likely to have the 1sr overall pick so I can get back a guy like schiefele (unless I trade him, still a really good player).
Do I ditch the playoffs (best teams often go down as it is) and sell off for more draft picks? Or go for it and try to win the playoffs as well? I'm already well prepared for next season but could probably all but lock it up with a few more trades to guys fighting for 2nd-4th (really tight race).
For those suggesting a McDavid offer. Believe me I've tried. He won't even consider ridiculous offers (and I do mean ridiculous...).

Crosby, Klingberg, Hellebuyck are the options I see. I lean towards Klingberg & Crosby.
I'd be willing to sell off your guys that you wouldn't be interested in keeping or redrafting in the first round. I would not decimate a position. Take a reasonable shot.

You say $160 is up for grabs for the playoff champion, but don't indicate what the prize is for winning the league.
If I'm giving advice regarding whether to go for a playoff win, or sell off to increase your chances next year of a league title, I'd want to know the relative payouts for each.
The higher the prize for the league title, the more (relative) incentive you have to sell off now...
In terms of keepers, in a 16 team, keep 2 league...how many goalies are usually kept? I can't be bothered to do the math to compare how goalies fare versus forwards in your set up.

Also goalies are not worth keeping in this league (least point differential). The teams that keep goalies are always near the bottom,we average around 2 goalies kept.
We only start 1 goalie per week and there are always decent starters available in FA.

360.... trade away some of those first round picks for improvements.

Can't trade in the offseason in this league. Deadline is Feb 22nd. I either trade them now or I lose them.

In a keep 2, I'd probably go for the 160 playoff win. Repeating must be really hard with only two keepers. So I go for the money now, unless you consistently kill it at the draft.

Crosby and Schiefele for me. Cant argue much if you kept Klingberg.

I would be keeping the two Tim Hortons employees.. Crosby and Mackinnon.. Klingberg and Scheifele are very tough omissions for me though..

Rep everywhere I could. I have to say I'm surprised Mackinnon isn't getting more love as the 2nd keeper. This has given me lots to chew on.
