If there's no better options as FAs, might as well, right?
Are we grabbing this guy? I am not a Smith owner but have a roster spot in a cap league....and could use a 3rd goalie

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
I just don't want to add the cap if hes going to play for 1 week then bench again

It could even be Gilles whom they turn to if Smith is out for a while.
I have Smith and Elliott - not a good last minute of each of those games for me. I'm basically screwed since 35 goalies are already owned in my league.

Image not paid too much attention to goalies, as my three that I drafted have been pretty solid. Now with Smith out, need to look at streamers.

I grabbed him... but now keeping my eye on if Gilles gets the call or not.
I don't have that much faith in RIT, but I have no good reason why, I just haven't been following Calgary closely enough.
I could snag him as well in a couple leagues... should I though?
I wont be surprised if Gillies isn't the one they are going to play over Ritiich. Might as well get a look at the future now, that or showcase him for pending trades.

Smith is day-to-day last I heard - I'm betting David Rittich starts tomorrow, giving Smith another day to heal. Unless it's really not serious of course.

I don’t think gillies is ready for prime time. If smith is out for a period of time , they’re better off trading for depth goalie...Mrazek, Hutchinson, etc.

only way Cgy makes a G deal is if Smith is out for the season. otherwise, they'll run with Rittich ... although it doesn't sound too serious, a few games?

Well, Rittich being thrown to the wolves tomorrow against the Bruins tomorrow. Not sure a big win or shellacking either way makes a statement but a middling performance, say 3.00 gaa and .905 doesn't answer the question either. Big guy with a good D in front of him and a solid offense. Here's hoping for a good start.
Tough slate for Rittich. Boston tonight and Nashville if he is in again Thursday. I am not expecting it to look very pretty.

I'm leaning towards "likely a NHL caliber goalie" on Rittich. Too soon to tell if he's starter or backup material, though. Good numbers in the AHL, what look like good numbers in the Czech league.
Not saying to start him against this tough slate, but I wouldn't be too surprised if he plays well enough for them to split and posts solid numbers.
