Why does this offer make me nervous??

I dont understand the counters at all. I think thats rookie blue- deals fall apart like that- owners wake up. Karlsson deal still better than Klingberg and both are ridiculous. Accept both and move on. Having Weber in your active D is a huge anchor. You could replace him with the best D in the league- for futures. Im almost with Daoust hoping they fall through for a teaching moment. Not quite there- I like your posts and would rather you improve but this is a really bad tendency as a GM. One day you will blow an offer and it will be much worse of a loss in value than 10 of these little haggles you're adding on (imho). Id go look in the mirror, splash some water on your face, write out your roster with EK and Kling at the top of your D pool, and press accept on both immidiately. Then I would count my lucky stars and promise the universe not to push your lluck next time :P

The EK offer, is mine to the OGM... I haven't received a counter yet... I've bumped it twice to try and push the OGM on top of the accept button. Still waiting.... so this one is not me being sticky, it's OGM.

Klingberg started as a way to pressure the Karlsson GM into accepting, I tossed out an offer - got the Mittelstadt in return, left it standing & countered. That GM is working on a counter. Likely including Makar, 1st +... I'll have my choice between those two offers.

I don't tinker on deals like this often, normally, when I see a favorable deal, it's an immediate accept. In this instance, it's about knowing my league, knowing the OGM's and identifying a potential for wiggle room. I never said no to Mittelstadt, just "I'd prefer to keep him if possible" -- if he held strong and said, he's a must, I accept. he didn't, opened himself for a counter. That's what I did.

There's been 50+ messages each to this OGM and back in between offers, it's a conversation more than a dialogue with the OGM. The deal for Weber came through very quickly, no tinkering, (Lindell & Kunin) same in another pool when I grabbed Ferland for Bratt & a 2nd.

My last counter was one born out of identifying an opportunity to do so vs. intentionally nickel and diming the OGM. There's a big difference in that analysis IMO.

Update: Klingberg - Theodore, Mittelstadt, 1st - Done. he backed up on Dermott in the counter I offered, started to get cold feet. Likely that deal gets vetoed anyway as no one holds Dermott with much value aside from perhaps me (heh). Once the price rose vs. that offer I had to jump already pushed it as others have noted.

We'll see if the Karlsson owner is still willing to deal now that my D consists of: Klingberg, Josi, Letang, Ghost, Weber, Provorov.
