    Default Benn - I'll Rep

What's up with him lately? Seguin and Radulov are doing well, and he's on their line yet only 2 pts in past 6 games. He's on pace for 73 pts, but prior to this cold streak he had 26 pts in previous 24.

He had 47 pts in 49 games (79 pt pace) prior to this recent stretch.

It's not like the guy is old, he's turning 29 at the end of July. I'm not saying he's an 85 pt guy, but surely he can put up consistent numbers.

Seguin has 8 pts in past 6, and Radulov 5. I just thought there would be more point correlation.

I traded for Benn expecting he would produce better than Monahan, yet Monahan has 27 goals and is on pace for 76 pts, but more goals, and he has 10 game winners already (which seems crazy in 53 games). Monahan was in the package I sent out with Kuzy and a 7 where I got Benn, Guentzel and a 4. Kuzy has a good number of raw points, but assist heavy so definitely miss Monahan more. He's shooting unsustainably high, 18.5% so got to figure that'll come down, and only has 1 assist in past 9 games. Benn has a pretty normal shooting % (13.1) relative to his career avg (12.96).

Does Benn still have a higher ceiling than Monahan, even though he's older? Going into the year, Benn was projected to finish with more pts than Monahan, at least in a lot of places I looked. It just seems people have soured on him a bit since he hasn't been producing at an 85 pt pace. I think Monahan is over-performing a little, and Benn under-performing. My league doesn't have hits, pims, shots on goal, faceoffs, but I still feel like Benn has the ability to produce more fantasy pts than Monahan.

A little variance, that is mostly it. A few games does nothing to change his value or expectations.

He can be expected to be a point-per-game player, or very near it. But IMO not much over anymore. There will be a streak when he outscores Seguin again.

I wouldn't panic here, yes Monahan is having a great year and Benn is struggling. This time next year, it could be the opposite. Both are ppg talents but that will fluctuate year to year but over the next few years Benn should prove as valuable as Monahan. The one advantage Monahan does have is age, but other than that, it's a dead heat for me for the next few years.

    I wouldn't panic with Benn.
It is very difficult to be a PPG player each and every year.
Top forwards can have a bad year here and there, but I found it safer to bet on an elite forward than an elite dman.
Sure, any guy could be the next D.Heatley, but you have to be patient with those guys because they could easily rebound next year.

This year, Backstrom is on pace for 63 pts, but I still consider him a 75+ player.

Benn is very streaky and plays with very potent linemates so never give up on him as you are right - Monahan is over performing and Benn under performing (IMO)

It seems like you may have a little buyers remorse on Benn right now, but he's the type of player who can net you 10 pts over the next 5 games and have you saying "thank god I traded for him". If you're asking if you should trade him, I'd say hard no and just be patient. Everyone loses a trade from time to time, but bailing on a guy who's still a PPG player because of a few bad games would be a mistake.

I'm definitely not planning to trade him man, just he was outperforming Monahan/Kuzy combined for awhile, now it's those guys with more combined points than him. Not a surprise, given I'm comparing 2 guys to 1, but just frustrating that he's cold, and Monahan seems to go on these goal binges, and gets a bunch of game winners. Kuzy I can live with him putting up points, because he's still very assist heavy. Of course I mention how Kuzy is assist heavy, and now he has a goal this game too!

Very true. I do think Benn still has the higher ceiling though, that's just me though. He's more proven for a longer period of time.

3 points last night. 25 + points over the final games is possible and that ought to set things right??
