it's been 24 hours or so since the guy got hurt. We can only suspect that the Devils/the NHL are waiting to notify the next of kin before they announce his passing. Really, WTF? The NHL is horrible in this regard.

At this point they should say he brought a note from his parents so he's excused from the next game.

Schneider assigned to Binghamton (AHL) on a conditioning loan

New Jersey has assigned G Cory Schneider to Binghamton (AHL) on a conditioning loan.Schneider has joined the team in Belleville for morning skate today at 11:15am.
Binghamton plays Belleville at 7:00pm this evening.

Schneider is expected to rejoin the team in Florida on Wednesday, to continue working under the observation of our training staff.

Scneider stopped 19 of 20 in a 4-1 win over Belleville last night. The Devils have back-to-back games Thursday and Friday against the Panthers and Hurricanes, hopefully he's back to start one of those games.
