Hah, yeah forgot about the Ducks. Not quite as bad, being named after a fictional sports team. Admirals is spot on, I did not know that. Guess I'm thinking more the horror that would be the Seattle Salesforces, or as MZac said, the Starbucks (although as a BSG fan, I can almost rationalize that as awesome).

Exactly plus it just sound weird. I get it we have the Lightning and Wild but I’ve never been a fan of these ‘singular’ names. Would Krakens sound better? Yeesh no. Wild I get it’s “the Wild”. But a single Kraken? I dunno it’s just not sounding like it’s a team name to me.

As if it even makes a difference, The Kraken isn’t even native to the Pacific Northwest in its mythical existence.
Regardless, as avid hockey fans we can come up with some great creative names. The reality is teams end up with Lightning, Wild, Knights...all creativity goes out the boardroom window.
Maybe it will be something different, like a Seattle Pilots. Or the Seattle SuperSonics. Then they can relate to Oklahoma or Milwaukee.
