every year there is an upset in the WJC and this year it's Slovakia beating the States.

it will be interesting to see how the USA bounces back against Canada today - not only are they dealing with a loss to the Slovaks, they are playing back to back while Canada had the day off.

Big loss period... they're going to be in tough vs. not just Canada but Finland... playing Russia in the quarters does not sound appealing at all.

They could be in for the Czechs also, and that's arguably the more dangerous opponent.

very true... they've been gritty in both games. or.. dare I say it, a loss to finland and Canada - Slovakia beats Denmark, could they miss the medal rounds completely?

I'm stoked that the prospects on my team that are playing in the WJC's are doing well.

I've got Mittelstadt, Kyrou, Kostin, and Gadjovich. I drafted the first three players in the summer and waited and waited until the last minute (a few weeks before the tourney) to pick up Gadjovich as a free agent. I would have taken him earlier but his injury helped to 'hide' him. I didn't want to say too much about him (hello, league-mates) on the forums for fear of losing him to someone else.

Mittelstadt is the next in a long line of talented American players that can dangle and control a game - he will have to work on having a more complete game to succeed in the NHL but he has skills that can't be learned in a short time.

Kyrou - He has lit up the scoreboards wherever he plays and he has the opportunity to shine next to some very talented, young players in St Louis. They have a well-balanced team and with prospects like Kostin, Thomas, Dunn, among others - They will most-likely remain to be competitive for a long time.

Kostin - I haven't watched him play all that much but I have heard that he was one of the best players for Team Russia. With my league using roto-scoring, a big-bodied player with talent is good to own. Once again, having have been drafted by St Louis certainly helps.

Gadjovich - His playing style reminds me of (Dare I say it?) a young Todd Bertuzzi. Gadjovich is a shot-machine that can fight if he has/wants to and plays in the rough areas. He scored 46 goals last year and has shown no signs of slowing down this year. For as much credit as Suzuki gets for Gadjovich's production - which player made Team Canada and which one didn't? There will be plenty of opportunities for him on Vancouver with 'the changing of the guard'.

I dont know why but the ice seems so much smaller when they play these outdoor games. No seats right behind the net I suppose.

Hard to believe that Makar's goal was Canada's first one this tourney from a defenseman.
