I find it interesting the IIHF and the USA organizers have blamed the weather for the poor attendance at the WJC this year....but the extreme cold hasn't stopped the crowd from attending the gold medal game. There were 2 snowstorms during the WJC so those dates get a pass - but blaming the weather for the remainder of the tournament makes no sense to me.

The WJC should always be hosted in Canada imo.

Canada had their own attendance issues last year themselves so its not like we are the be-all end-all for WJC attendance.

They need to get back to smaller venues, the grass roots and get their prices down to a realistic price point. The IIHF has simply got greedy and its showing in the stands.

Fair point, but now the benchmark has been set, if they move to smaller venues then wouldn't they charge even more to make up for the lost revenue?
