markstrom would be my pick... who knew coming into the season Van would be 3rd in GAA @ 2.78 in early Dec. (NOT ME)
I've had it. Scott Darling it on my poop list. With Talbot injured and Darling unreliable (even more so than Talbot), I'm starting to fall behind on my goalie games played. My league parameters are in my sig. I present to you some free agents in my shallowish pool - any intriguing replacements for Darling?
Darling. 7W 8L 53GA 486SV 0SO. Total fantasy points: 1.6. 0.1 fppg. Booooooooo.
Goalies who have played 15 games this season:
Markstrom (20 GP, 17.3 fp, 0.9 fppg)
Elliott (20 GP, 7.3 fp, 0.4 fppg)
Halak (15 GP, 8.1 fp, 0.5 fppg)
Luongo (RIP)
Goalies with > 15 fp this season
Nilsson (9 GP, 21.9 fp, 2.4 fppg)
Kuemper (8 GP, 20.2 fp, 2.6 fppg)
Khudobin (11 GP, 17.7 fp, 1.6 fppg)
Dell (10 GP, 15.2 fp, 1.5 fppg)
Another goalie just for kicks
Wedgewood (7GP in last two weeks, 7.5 fp in that span, 1.1 fppg)
I'm starting to think that there are a couple of good ROS options in here (Halak, one of the Canuck goalies) who will put up more points than Darling.
What do you think?

I admire what Markstrom is doing in Vancouver, but I'm not sure I trust him yet to be this good all season. I'd prefer a more steady option on a better team, but Halak doesn't blow me away either (although I think the Islanders are better than the Canucks). However, it does come down to one of these two guys.

yeah, I am also thinking about dropping Darling to keep Markstrom when my injured goalies come back.

I'll go out on a limb and go against the conventional thinking. Both Halak and Markstrom aren't bona fide #1's as they have decent compitition behind them with Greiss and Nilsson respectively, both can very realistically be in a position of playing in a split situation ROS.
Therefore, from your list my pick would be Elliot. I don't believe Philadelphia is as bad as their 10 game losing streak suggests, they have won 2 in a row and Elliot has looked good in both of those games. Also Elliot is unquestionably the #1 guy in Philadelphia and will get the bulk of the starts. From this point moving forward, I see Elliot as you best option.
As a previous post stated the Canucks are surprisingly 3Rd best gaa, as a Canucks fan it's nice to see but I don't see that trend continuing. They started off so hot last year and finished 2nd worst in the league, I feel another fall coming not as bad as last year but regression non the less. Plus news just ca me out that Horvat could miss up to 6 weeks.

My prediction... from Feb - end of season --- Darling is the best of the aforementioned options

While I agree Elliot may not be a "great" goalie and his "good" seasons were likely more to do with the situation he was in, I still feel he's a better option than Darling movin forward. I was looking at situation as well for who would be getting the most GP and not just name power (debatable but I see Philly as a better team/situation than Carolina). Plus who knows how the rumored sale of the team will effect the Hurricanes if at all.

Even with Nilsson's better numbers, Markstrom is the coach's choice (AHL ties). Also Markstrom has been playing his ass off because he knows Nilsson looks better on paper (and on the ice imo). My estimate is a 70/30 split ROS. Just something to consider.
This
I have Talbot and Raanta from my draft, well I am getting killed in Goalie games/stats
I was able to land Helly and that has helped me out but I made a move for Darling to help me out while my other guys are injured and or figure it out. I suspect a strong second half from the Canes

I just moved Darling in a package deal that included 2018 1st and Rakall for Kucherov coming back to me. Darling...imo...is a solid G3 on a dynasty team. Darling is talented. It's the team in front of him that sucks ass. I think he;s worth holding onto as a long term asset in hopes that management does a better job in building up the talent around. Think: Schneider in NJ.
@SmittysRant
Darling has some talent for sure but he also let's in his fair share of soft goals. Watched a few Carolina games where he faltered pretty bad. Don't ever see him being a top tier goalie regardless of team but decent #3 in fantasy.
