Tavares or Stamkos?

Another GM in my league would trade me Tavares, Gaudreau or Kuznetsov for S.Stamkos.

Do I pull the trigger? If yes, who's the target?

The title of this thread is correct, in that this is Stamkos vs Tavares. Tavares is the only one of the three you should be considering for Stamkos, and it's pretty close. Assuming it's not a cap league (where I'd be running away from JT), I'd take Tavares over Stamkos. Stamkos has been quite injury prone, and he's gonna have to share the top spot on the Lightning with Kucherov, whereas Tavares is clearly the top dog for the Islanders. Eberle might help him up his production this year, and if he doesn't, I suppose he'll bolt next offseason for a better team.

I would go with JT too, for the same reasons listed above.

since its a goal heavy category league & Tavares stays healthier than Stammer lately I'd say go with JT if you want the safe route

the higher risk/reward move would be Stammer if you like to gamble.

Definitely Stammer vs JT.

I think I'd keep Stamkos personally but I don't argue that dealing him for JT is a bad move either. Basically it's a push for me.

JT for me, but by a hair. Stammer has been injured a lot in the past few years, and needs to prove that he is no longer a "bab". Stammer also plays in a system where he is not relied upon as the go to guy. JT is the go to guy.

Its a tight race.. as mentioned above the only two horses int he race are Tavares and Stamkos.

I lean towards Stamkos this year... I think Lightning are going to put up crazy offensive numbers and Stamkos and Kucherov are both going to be pushing 90 points.

It's a sore subject with us, a scoring category that was added as a result of a vote amongst the GMs (they want more and more points).


I'm leaning towards keeping Stamkos for this season, but it's tempting to grab Tavares.

Go with Tavares... he won't be back with Isles and as soon as he puts on a new sweater, his fantasy league trade value will rocket.
People LOVE the potential of a star player on a new team. By default, they add 10pts to the player because he's in a new place!

As per real numbers, I prefer JT in a points-only format... and prefer Stamkos in a goal/SOG-heavy format.
I can also see Stamkos someday spending significant time on wing, so that wing-eligibility (maybe... someday...) can also have real value in some leagues.

Stamkos for me.

"Goal heavy" doesn't even begin to do justice describing that league setting. 5 of 7 offensive categories are goal-related. Stamkos is a perennial threat to take home the Rocket Richard. He's my choice here.
