Who to Target for Malkin?

Not sure I'd want to throw Bowey in on that deal. I do like the return of Hall (hoping the latest adds help turn that team around offensively) and I'm terribly high on Yandle.

I don't think I would want to move Malkin in either of those deals. I would want MacKinnon and an additional player at least, otherwise just keep Malkin.

I've struggled with trading Malkin in my keeper league for the last couple years, but can never come to a reasonable conclusion. I've basically settled on enjoying the production he provides when healthy and being ready come playoff time to try and plug the holes he leaves. Not a great solution, but everyone in my league knows Malkin turns into a china doll come late March and I'll never get fair value in a trade.

One interesting option I have thought about though, is that there is one team in my league with MacKinnon and Ekblad coming off down years, and I have no idea how he keeps them over some other options. I'm not ready to tear my team down though and making that deal would surely be the start of that.

This. I own Malkin and Letang and have come to the same resolution. Enjoy all that they bring when they bring it and ride the wire for the streaking ham 'n eggers when one or both go on the IR. It is frustrating, but the word is out on both of them and you will never get Crosby or Karlsson esq offers even though they are every bit as productive when healthy.

Expect a 60 game season, topped up with wire streams and enjoy the ride.

However, if you can get Mack and Ek I would take it and run.

Of course, I wouldn't either. Just saying that Malkin is one of the few elite PPG+ NHL players when playing but will never get that type of return in a deal, so it is best to ride it out with him. Letang as well.

If you can move Letang for a blueliner who will get you 55 points then you probably end up winning that deal even if 'in theory' you are giving up the best player. In a points only league of course.

And out of nowhere I just shipped Malkin. Funny how it goes

I gave: Malkin and Green

I received: Stone, Dadonov and Byfuglien

My take: Stone and Dadonov decent enough return for Malkin if I am upgrading from Green to Big Buff.

Sad to see Malkin go, but not hating that I no longer have to deal with it. Feel like I got about as much as I could

In my head to head league, over the past 3 seasons, Malkin has only played one playoff game. I almost traded Ehlers for him last year but i'm so glad i didnt now.
