    Default Appraising a Few D-men

I'm looking to get an idea of value, 18/19 season GP estimate, and short-term future production for a few less-than-spectacular D-men...:

    Stephen Johns
    Slater Koekkoek

Need to make room for drafted rookies, and these are guys that might get dropped...

I think both of these guys will be regulars in the NHL soon enough, but neither will be offensive stalwarts. Better real life dmen than fantasy studs, they will be most useful in the deepest fantasy leagues.

I agree with this but Koek could have some offensive production as his career progresses. With your league counting hits and blocks, I think Johns should get a big bump. I think Baby's comment is a good floor for them.

I dont see much fantasy value from either Dman for offensive production but Johns at least offers hits and blocks.

    Koekkoek would be my drop.

I like this opinion. Offensive outlook, neither is a great option for points and shots and PPP. As said, MAYBE 20pts. Peripheral categories, i think Johns is the pick here for hits/blocks as Axeman said.

Koekkoek reminds me of Barberio - he'll never quite pan out until maybe right around when we've forgotten about him. Johns will be a depth guy but might play more regularly due to his style.

Agree with Axe here, especially with Honka emerging. For me both of these guys will be serviceable as bottom end D men but at least Johns should provide better peripherals

Thanks for the replies. I also feel the same way about Johns' being more valuable with the hits. Will probably drop Koekkoek.
