I would not give up Vinnie in this type of deal; he\'s in an entirely different league than Kopitar/Vanek. I don\'t think the upgrade to a 2nd round pick makes up for what you\'d be losing.
I have a choice of Kopitar or Vanek in a points only (no +/-) keeper league (we keep just 3 from year to year).
I\'m essentially trading LeCavelier for one of those guys but also swapping a 4th round pick for his 2nd round pick.
1. should I take Kopitar or Vanek?
2. Should I even be doing this?

I\'m a huge Kopitar fan but I wouldn\'t make this deal. Lecavalier\'s in a whole different world from those two.

Should I not be worried about Vinnie\'s shoulder?
no, he\'ll start a bit slower but expect a return to about 100 pts this year
he is on another echelon than kopitar and vanek

To echo what has been said, dont worry about his shoulder and don\'t make the trade. If you feel you must, take Kopitar.

I am curious as to where in the second round this pick might be. Do you know yet? I would also like to know who your other 2 keepers are.
I\'m a believer that whoever is getting the best player in a multiplayer trade is usually the one who is getting the best of the deal. What I mean is, often trades are done like this, you give up an A+ rated player and a D rated player in exchange for two B rated players, or a B and C rated player. The problem is, there are not many A+ players in the league. It is much harder to get your hands on someone like Vinny than Vanek or Kopitar. Although some prefer the idea of balance, I say that you need to secure your premier players, because it is easier to round out your lineup.
Think about it this way, if Vinny is good for 100 points, and Kopitar is good for 80, then you need that 2nd round pick to outperform your 4th round pick by more than 20 to make it beneficial.

the only way you can trade those types of player, is if you have a very sh*tty team, and receive 3 good 80 pts player(4 for crosby ovechkin malkin)that is the way i see it..of course kopitar and lecavalier will only have 25 pts that separates them, but in the long run (in full keeper) when you have to drop, quality is always better then quantity
but your league is different, lets say you are 12 in the league and you keep 3 each...even if they send you 3 good guys you wont keep them because its a 3 keeper!
lecavalier is top 10 easy maybe top5 in this league , keep him.Would you trade away crosby because of his ankle injury?

If you need to patch up your team bad, and you think you can get a VERY good player with that second pick, id go for Kopitar. Vinny is a gem, in my book he makes the top 5 with Sid,Ovy,Geno and Iginla, but Kopitar is not far behind and is underrated at the momment. He\'s no Lecavalier but your not sacrificing 20 points either. All depends on what that 2nd pick is worth in your draft.

Yep, all comes down to that 2nd pick. I think both guys are at least 20 pts behind Vinny who is in his prime, now, I\'d actually put it more at 20-30 pts behind.
