I can't list my 2nd main keeper as there are too many players, but it is a keep all H2H points-only league
Lol.
1. Kessel HAD to be moved from TO as they were rebuilding and wanted to tank
2. Ovi is the best goal scorer of this generation, is probably still the best weapon on the PP for all 31 teams, and was likely under-paid for what he brought to the caps for 10 years
3. You aren't going to get him for a d-prospect who hasn't made the NHL yet, a centre who hasn't lived up to expectations and some 1st round picks. This isn't fantasy GM land

The Washington Capitals face the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre Thursday night and Alex Ovechkin is excited about it.
In an alternate NHL universe, Ovechkin could be lining up on the Canadiens’ side of the ice.
As Ovechkin prepared to sit down with ESPN for an interview Thursday, the NHL’s leading goal scorer expressed his love for the city of Montreal and the atmosphere at the Bell Centre.
“I love playing here,” Ovechkin told ESPN.
When asked if he could picture himself playing for the Canadiens’ if he wasn’t holding down his position as face of the Capitals’ franchise, the Great 8 gave Montreal hockey fans something to dream about.
“Yeah, probably, if I would have a choice,” Ovechkin said. “The culture, the atmosphere, the city . . . If I wasn’t in Washington? Yes, here.”
Ovechkin has experienced the excitement of playoff hockey in Montreal first-hand, albeit on the losing end of a series.
The Capitals fell to the Canadiens in a seven-game series back in 2010, with Montreal winning 4-1 at the Bell Centre in Game 6.
Ovechkin leads the NHL in goals with 50 and currently sits second in points with 77.
Just saw this rumour....late to the party.
I don't think I would ever do this deal if I was MacLellan.
Way to much risk.
At 35 he'll be heading into the last year of his contract.
The caps have him for another 4 years at 9.5M. That's not bad.
Is his decline starting? For sure. But I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the Rocket Richard a few more times.
Not to mention "face of the franchise" and the business/marketing side affect it'll have. You'd have to get approved from the owner Im sure.
Could he be on a decline, sure. But he also was given reduced minutes. Up those minutes and I think he can still score 50. Who would you peg could score 50 right now with him? Honestly I can't think of any. Tarasenko has no C's to play with for help (remembering the years of Iggy carrying CGY), Stamkos has had 2 years off pretty much, Kucherov will have to deal with added ice time to Stammer, Perry is done up there. Crosby seems to be 40's at best
for reference (Rocket Richard award):
2007–08 Alexander Ovechkin Washington Capitals 65 82 1
2008–09 Alexander Ovechkin Washington Capitals 56 79 2
2009–10 Sidney Crosby Pittsburgh Penguins 51 81 1
Steven Stamkos Tampa Bay Lightning 51 82 1
2010–11 Corey Perry Anaheim Ducks 50 82 1
2011–12 Steven Stamkos Tampa Bay Lightning 60 82 2
2012–13* Alexander Ovechkin Washington Capitals 32 48 3
2013–14 Alexander Ovechkin Washington Capitals 51 78 4
2014–15 Alexander Ovechkin Washington Capitals 53 81 5
2015–16 Alexander Ovechkin Washington Capitals 50 79 6
2016–17 Sidney Crosby Pittsburgh Penguins 44 75 2

I do not believe he can score 50. Even with increased ice time, unless he's getting an extra 2 minutes per game on the powerplay. So.
I also do not believe that what he gives you is worth 9.5 million. I'd say right now he's worth 7 at best.
I think Ovy has two more 50 goal season in him.
You're making a stronger case to keep Ovechkin rather than to trade him for another center.

Player value aside, Washington would see a massive, massive ticket sales drop by making this move.
For Calgary - I think they are headed in the right direction and don't yet need a massive move until they feel out their max-out level - which they are still rising.
So yeah... I wasn't surprised to hear that this is just rumour.
To me - this trade spec doesn't make much sense for either team.
In the southeastern US, yes - I'm including DC... which isn't a real hockey base - the fans love their superstars.
If you've got a superstar, you'll get attendance.
I'd wager that 75%+ of hockey fans in southeastern markets (TB, FLA, ATL, CAR, NAS, WAS) couldn't accurately explain to you all conditions of icing.
I saw what happened to Atlanta when they let Kovalchuk go.
Better team without him? Absolutely.
Attendance & fan passion? Decrease.
Same would happen to WAS without Ovechkin, IMO.
His star power alone gives him an added value-boost in a non-hockey market. (but obv, not CGY)
You ride that kind of guy for income until the wheels fall off.
(And OV, even declining in ES energy, will score goals on the PP until he's 45.)
