In a salary cap league like yours Laine is the more valuable asset to own.

Moses pretty much cracked the tablet over this argument. With cap it's not close right now. JT is going to get paid too.

If salaries were equal, man it's tough. I love JT and I see Rataylor's points as well as tobias' on him. I'd probably want something more than laine for JT IF cap was equal just because JT has a more proven record.

I like Laine a lot and I'd prefer him over tavares. I wouldn't want to add to tavares though.

In my league I've been trying to acquire him and I can't get him for Burns.

Laine here for me. As mentioned, the cap is the kicker.

Are you going to want this contract in a cap league? ($10M x 8y)

I missed the reference to cap league in OP. Easy Laine for me.

As for the article mentioned above (10 x 8), everybody knows JT is going to the Maple Leafs...and he's going to sign an even team friendlier deal than his last one!

    That's fair.

I think Tavares comes into career years in the next few years and my answer incorporated the next 2-3 seasons as always, not the next 10. I think JT out points him in the OPs format.

I get I'm probably in the minority, we'll see how it plays out.

If this is the league in your signature, I prefer Laine as well.

Without jumping on Fantasy Hockey Geek, can you tell me the fantasy points each player got this season for your league? Wouldn't Laine better by a fair margin?
