yeah not right at all. this guy should be in a mental institution for the rest of his life.
...get a few years and an absolute discharge.

I don't care what the mental health issues were/are here, this guy should not be getting out.
I saw an interview with the father of the deceased shortly after this happened - I honestly hope he hunts this guy down and doles out some proper justice.

Just proves you can't stop a guy who's not criminally responsible from...wait for it...wait...getting a head.
This is just wrong. Justice has not been served.

After reading this story I can't help but think that the government stop paying for this guy to get treatment at whatever treatment centre he was at.
Therefor, no reason to keep him around anymore.
Could I be way off here?

Read this article too, and was just sickened by the release of this man. I'm sure he's medicated and that things are better, but he beheaded another human being. I'm not saying he should be locked away in a dungeon, but if he was institutionalized and it worked, why risk this awful event from being repeated. Head scratching for sure.

The question I have is, who is going to make sure he takes his medication?
Seems like a contradiction. The article says mental health officials conclude he is not a threat to public safety. If you want to argue "an eye for an eye" - go nuts. But the risk to society thing? I don't see the logic in that argument. Especially with the cost of keeping someone locked up...

Fortunately, our laws disagree with your stance.
Why couldn't they make him report to a doctor or responsible agency (stop laughing please) and ensure that he's taking his medication? Even if it's daily, there must be a free clinic somewhere close. It's already a tragedy that a young man lost his life due to this guy not taking his meds. Doesn't someone think that he might go off his meds again? So if he does go off his meds and hurts or kills someone else, how could those making this decision say that they couldn't foresee this happening?

And that's my point. The only way to ensure this doesn't happen again is to keep him in a medical facility. The criminally insane (can I say that word?) may not be criminally responsible for their actions, but that doesn't mean the victims of his crimes don't suffer any less. A tragedy in so many ways, why risk, even if it is minute one, having it repeat itself?
