Backstrom (right ankle) won\'t participate in Saturday\'s opening practice, Boudreau said. \'\'We want to be overly cautious. This is still September. You know those ankles - they\'re such a weird injury,\'\' Boudreau said.

Sure it doesn\'t tell much, but at least that\'s a start. It\'s also showing that they won\'t rush him.
