Default Matthews-Point for Laine-Horvat (read the situation first ;)

Points only - Team 1 below

So I'm trying to deal his Matthews and Point for my Laine and Horvat.

Horvat is at the last year of his entry level and will resign in the 3-4m range this summer, so I won't keep him anyways..So getting Point would get me a 900k player for 3 years..

I'm not a contender this year, so I don't care about Matthews being on a slump at the moment.

    Thanks a bunch!

I like the Matthews side. Mostly because i think Bo is overrated until the Sedins leave, then he's gonna be trying to pull a dead horse for a couple of yrs before he gets good wingers to play with

I don't think you have a very good read on the Canucks situation if this is what you think lol...

    1) He's not overrated, if anything he's extremely underrated, and that's because -
    2) He's been pulling dead horses on a regular basis ever since he started playing for the team. All while playing against other teams' best players.

That being said, odds are Horvat isn't going to be worth the price hike that's coming.

I think this deal ultimately comes down to who you believe more in - Laine or Matthews, and whether or not you think getting Point is gonna be worth potentially giving up the best player in the deal (i.e., what you expect out of Point for the next 3 years that you have him cheap).

Based on my limited experience in cap leagues, I'd probably side with the Matthews Point side as well.

Edit: Nope I'm an idiot I think that's what you were saying haha. Sorry.

I also want the Matthews/Point side.

I don't know if I'd say that Horvat is overrated, or underrated. I just dont think he's going to be all that good in a points-only format, especially a salary cap one.

Long term I think they play out:

    Matthews = Laine

    Point > Horvat
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

I agree with Axe, I'm just not sure why it was so critical to "read the situation first". I would feel this way in both cap and non-cap leagues.

HAHA! It just seems that depending on league settings and cap hits, players are not the same value to everyone.. which is why I wanted to put emphasis on 'my situation'

    Thanks for the imput all!
