Marner or Tatar?

He plays with Bozak & JVR. He?s sitting at 50pts in 59 games without having played anysustained 5-5 time with Matthews. Matthews has 55 in 65. They are both legit top line players movingforward. Both Superstars in the making.

I said the only reason that would happen is if he plays with Matthews. He isn't going to outpoint Matthews otherwise.

Matthews is a superstar, Marner is not. He's a clear tier below him. When I say that, that is not an insult to Marner. He isn't in the same class. Top line player doesn't mean superstar.

50 in 59 vs 49 in 61. It's really close... but facts are facts. And the 19yr old Marner's is only 163lbs soaking wet.

I think its fair to say they can both be superstars, but Mathews has the ceiling where he might reach the conversation of best 2 or three players in the game someday, whereas Marner I think has a ceiling of top 10. Just depends on what your definition of superstar is. Mathews is hard to find comparable players for in terms of ceiling but I think somewhere in Malkin's range (lets just think without injuries as there is no way to predict), continually considered one 2 or three best centres in the game. I think Marner has a chance (and it may be little) to be a slightly less dynamic version of P. Kane. I don't think he will get there but he has the requisite skills. I don't like the Toews-Kane comparison though because it sells Mathews wayyyy short in terms of offensive output.

Matthews is on another tier in real life. Marner is likely on the same level in fantasy hockey. Matthews Center only designation “hurts” him while Marner is a top 20 RW right now in basic fantasy, where Matthews is a top 20 as well, but centers are easier to find on FA than RWers.

I agree with this. And I traded Marner away last offseason because I thought it would take a few years for him to get dominant. Could have kept him for a long time for minimal cost.

Stashed Keller in hopes of redeeming myself. Here's to him being the next Marner.

right? just yesterday another thread was posted asking about trading Tank & White for Marner & Keller. Amazing how in 5 mths we've gone from Tatar to Tank
