Keeper Auction

We started a Keeper Football League last year, and we're ready for our auction for the upcoming year.
I finished 3rd regular season, 1st playoffs.

We keep ten, and mine are a solid group:

QB: Bortles
RB: Ingram, Deangelo Williams, E. Lacy
WR: A. Brown, B. Marshall, M. Evans, J. Gordon
TE: Kelce
Def: Seattle

Looking at the available players, there's really only ONE guy that'll make a major difference for me this season: Zeke Elliot.
There are some decent available WRs, but unless I hit injury, they'll be bench players.
Manning is the only QB that is arguably an upgrade (and I see them close).

So...do I come to the auction willing to spend ALL of my cash on Zeke?
I could spend $181 of $200 on him and fill in my bench with $1 players.

Thoughts?

Should I put this in hockey terms for y'all?

Is it better to have McDavid + 8 scrubs
or 9 bench players with possible upside.

I'm no auction expert but how do the values go for keepers next season? If you spend $181 on Zeke and want to keep him next season, what does he cost you?

No value next season. Just # of keepers. So owning him at $181 is no different than owning him at $1.
The only risk is that my entire bench is leftovers after the other 11 guys spend their money.

Don't mind the idea but I have a really hard time not drafting a couple A assets rather than one A++. RB is you weakest position though. I'd go for him for sure but try leave yourself a little leeway. A bench of $1 could leave you in real tough when injury time happens. More than any other sport fantasy football is won on the bench.

Btw is it a start 2RB and 2WR league?

With no cost next year...then absolutely I would go for it. Your roster just needs bye week fill-ins and you should be able to get some value/sleeper picks for the bench. Your team seems pretty set as is imo.

Well, I planned to go for it. I bid $150, then $170. There was nobody else seemingly going for it -- so I thought I might get lucky and get him cheaper. Then somebody else upped it to full price.

Ugh. I should've went with it from the start, but started to think I'd get him cheaper.

I ended up getting Manning -- but the rest of the players (Riddick, Crowell, Seferian-Jenkins, RGIII, etc.) aren't exciting enough for me to have missed out on Zeke. Kicking myself.

Tough loss. You still sport a nice keeper roster.
