Default RNH for Gallagher straight up

18 Team H2H Dynasty league w/ salary cap (using NHL salaries)
    G, A, SOG, +/-, PIM, PPP

    Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (@ 6 mil per year till 2021)
    Vs.
Brendan Gallagher (@ 3,750,000 per year till 2021)

I currently own RNH, and I made the offer to acquire Gallagher.

The pros and cons, from my perspective:

    Pros:
    - Gallagher makes almost half the salary, and right now I'm right up against the cap. Next year I'm going to need to shed some $$ in order to re-sign 3 RFAs that I really want to keep. Saving this 2.25 mil would go along way.
    - I believe that from this point forward Gallagher's floor will be 50 points, with a ceiling of 65~. While I think RNH has a floor of 55 and a ceiling of 70. The difference in salary more than makes up for the difference in points IMO.
    - Like many, I think a full season of McDavid being in Edmonton will help RHN in terms of overall play, but I'm not convinced that it will mean he skyrockets in production. RNH's 2nd line will still be a scoring line, but McDavid's line should be getting more o-zone starts and what not, while RNH will be relied upon more-so for his 2-way game.

    Cons:
    - In a vacuum, comparing the 2, RNH is the more talented of the 2 players.
    - My team is very young, but I feel I have a top 3 team in the league, and I should be able to contend right now and for years to come... does RHN have another gear that I'm not seeing? Will I regret this...?
    - Michel Therrien is an idiot, and despite the chemistry between Galchenyuk and Gallagher, he'll most likely give Radulov topline duties to start the year (but that doesn't mean lines won't change, nor is there any guarantee that Radulov is with that Habs for more than 1 season)
    - I'm a Habs fan and I think Gallagher is a great player that can be a consistent 30g/30a guy for the rest of his contract... am I crazy? Am I hyping up a home town player too much?

Tell me if I'm crazy pls.

If we knew which line RNH was playing on I would be more comfortable making a choice on this one
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

I think it's a reasonable deal to address cap issues, but without seeing the rest of your roster, it's a bit tough to fully evaluate. Positional needs also could factor in: wing versus center.

I think Gallagher does better on a point per dollar measure moving forward, barely.

I'm pretty high on Gally myself so I might be a tad biased. From a cap stand point it makes the choice easier. I'd take Gally.

I'm decent;y high on Gallagher. No FW, there is PIMs, you get the winger, you get the lower salary… looks like a win to me.

I agree with Eskimo here. Given the PIM, lower salary and W (more Centers available), I think this would be a good trade, the difference between both from a pts perspective is not much, and there are many Fwds in Edm that will compete for PP time. Radulov might have a short term impact on Gallagher's ice time, but I do not beleive we will see a big drop off over the longer term. He is one of Therrien's favorites.

Let et us know if the deal goes through!

In my cap league I wouldn't trade my Gallagher for RNH, partly because I have cap issues as well. Gallagher has one of the best cap hits in the league right now and in a couple years it's going to look even better. What he loses in points production (if anything) he will more than make up for in shots, pim and +/-
