    Default 2 Trade Opps

    Hey all,
For context, my top 8 draft able rookies are

    McDavid
    Eichle
    Panarin
    Larkin
    Domi
    Parayko
    Ehlers
    Nylander

    I have 2 possible deals

    Deal 1
    To me: Tyson Barrie
    To other: 5th overall pick

    Deal 2
    To me: 6th overall pick
To other: 9th and 12th pick

    I currently have 5, 9, 12

    With 5,6 I'm pretty much garunteed Domi/Larkin + Parayko.

    The other trade:
Barrie, plus 1 other in top 9 and the 12th overall pick

    Tia
    Salary Cap League:
    13 Team, G, A,+/-, W-2, OTL,SO-3
    30 max, 21 weekly active roster (12F, 7D, 2G)
Note: Our league is 1 year behind in terms of available players and salary. Salary doesn't change for length of Pool contract.

    Team:
    F-Trochek, Necas, J.T.Miller,McCann,Terry,Engvall, Zibanajed,mikhehev,GourdeHagel, Petterson,skinner
    D-

I would take the 2nd trade if you can get a 20th overall pick back from him, or another one later one.

IT would be nice to have 5th and 6th overall.

I would also consider moving Barrie for 5th overall.

If you make both moves you could end up with Barrie and Domi.

Is your salary based on NHL cap hits, NHL salary, or some kind of bid system?

It's very hard for me to compare Barrie versus Parayko without knowing the relative salaries for each player.

Also, I think you would get more informative answers if you posted your top 12 rookies that are available. For the second trade, I'm comparing someone like Ehlers to two players that are NOT on your list. So my bias is towards taking Ehlers - the known quantity. Are Dylan Strome, Kyle Connor, Mitch Marner and Miko Rantanen also available?

The rookies available are anyone who played their first game in the 2015-2016 season, I quickly listed 9 as Im out and about haven't looked as far of 12 yet

As for salary, for this year alone, Barrie is still on rookie contract < 1m, next year between 2-3

This is what I would do here but ONLY if you can guarantee that both work out.

Is this as good with a Larkin/Barrie Combo Or Ehlers/Barrie combo?

Technically Domi and Larkin can go 4th and 5th

Yes, I like Ehlers better than Larkin or Domi.

I think what he means here is that both trades are offered to you and then accept them simultaneously. So one guy doesn't see you have made a trade then not accept your offer.

I wouldn't trade up from #9 to #6 here because there are 9 good players available, so it's just not worth it.

I would probably wait to see who goes with the first 4 picks before pulling the trigger on the Barrie trade. If Ehlers is still there, I might just take him. If not, then you're still getting a similar-level player at #9, so there's no point in trading up.

I'm intrigued as to how deep this goes and what would be available at 12....

    So, I made a mistake...

The pick I would be trading up for is 3rd overall.

    So essentially

    I trade:
    5th, 9th and 12th overall

    For
Barrie and 3rd (McDavid, eichle, panarin)

so what your saying is the 2nd trade is 9 and 12 for 3?
or the first trade has to happen for the 2nd one to happen?
id be tempted to deal 5th 9th and 12th for 1st and 4th or 5th rd
cheapest you could possibly get mcdavid

If you're talking Ehlers/Domi/Larkin... you also need to be talking Nylander at 5/6.

McDavid will be #1. So #3 will come down to Eichel or Panarin.
The question then is, are you content trading Domi or Larkin or Ehlers (I won't include Nylander because you aren't considering him, but should be); maybe Paryako & a 12th

    Panarin & Barrie for Domi/Ehlers, 9th (Parayko) & 12th (what's in the 12 range anyway?).

Yup I'd do that - unless something big is potentially sitting at 12

Yeah this is tough because if I kept my picks, I might end up with Ehlers/Domi, Parayko and Nylander, but there is just no knowing.

Nylander could drop to 12th because he's a leaf and their +/- isn't great

Barrie makes me nervous too because of that teams +/-

    This is tough lol

Thanks everyone for your insights, lots to think about

I did ask 3rd overall GM if he would be interested
