A LITTLE MORE ON THE CANUCK SITUATION. The rumour aspect:

THE PROVINCE: Jason Botchford recently reported it’s believed the Vancouver Canucks were quietly looking to “move a player on an unappealing contract along with a valuable asset in an attempt to clear more cap space to chase a forward.” He wondered if the target could be Buffalo Sabres left wing Evander Kane or Colorado Avalanche center Gabriel Landeskog. There’s also speculation a trade of defenseman Luca Sbisa was being discussed over the weekend.

They don't really have assets to spare to make the cap space...

Its scary how the Canucks are going about this.... whatever it is.... I cant even call it a rebuild, its just plain scary - they're getting worse in almost every way. By the way, I like the new avatar, EskimoBro, had to double check, it looked unfamiliar!

Yeah, Benning is one of the most inept GM's I have ever seen. That's including Milbury. At least with milbury i could kind of guess what he was aiming for, even if it was stupid. With Benning, I usually go WTF?

i think canucks ownership dabbles a little too much in player personnel decisions..

Problem is what's the point of bringing in that contract? Team is not in a position to compete so why paper over the cracks?

It would be shocking if the Avs traded Landeskog.

    ^^ Yup.

Sidenote: Is there scenario that sees the Canucks trade both Sedin's to Nashville. Serious, please think about it for a moment.

That's worrying if you're basing your team development on two guys who are past their best... They will both still put up 60 odd points (someone has to right) but to think that is due to being contenders instead of anything else is nutty

    No.

Nashville has no need for more 60 point forwards that would play on their third line. They also only have 6mil in cap space, and are a budget team, so I don't see them spending any more than they are.

for what it would cost to acquire them (and don't the Sedins have NMC?) I can't see that happening.

Buffalo gave up a arm and a leg for E.Kane, I can't see them just giving up on him..

Colorado is trading Duchene, Barrie, and now Landeskog?? Seems weird that their whole team is being rumored to be on the move..

I knew that Sbisa deal was going to bite them in the ass. The guy is actually a pylon. That contract extension is one of the worst moves of Benning's tenure. Sbisa did absolutely nothing to earn that contract. I know we joke that defensemen that can walk and talk get paid $4m but I even doubt his ability to do that.
