Keeper League; Protecting 4

In a keeper league and need to protect 4 players, i've been in this pool for 4 years now and have placed 3rd, 2nd, 1st and 1st!

We keep our cap with the NHL so i'm guessing its around 70 million and we do Salary Hit not cap hit. Our team needs to be 9 forwards, 4 defense, 2 goalies and 7 spares.

So who do i keep; Goalies are H2H that add to your total team points and can win its own Goalie category as well. (which i've won 2/4 times)

Here who i have worth keeping;

(F) TARASENKO ; 8M
(F) MONAHAN ; RFA
(F) SEGUIN : 6M
(F) M. STONE ; 3.75M

(D) J. FAULK ; 5.5M
(D) JOSI ; 4.25 <-- LOVE JOSI BUT NOT SURE WITH THE SUBBAN/WEBER TRADE HOW THIS WILL EFFECT NASHVILLE
(D) E. KARLSSON ; 7M

(G) QUICK ; 7M
(G) HOLTBY ; 7M

My problem is do i lock up 2 Elite goalies 1 Elite forward / defense

I'm leaning towards; QUICK / HOLTBY / KARLSSON / SEGUIN

What do you guys think?

#1, don't devalue Josi because of Subban/Weber trade. Josi would be fine regardless who he is playing with.

Based on your team, a little difficult without knowning how many teams but I would lean Holtby, Karlsson, Seguin and Stone as your 4 keepers.

How many teams in your league?

Same for me as well: Karlsson, Holtby, Josi and Seguin.

Quick is not an elite goalie.

Yep, the 4 mentioned above have such value contracts that they are pretty much no brainers. That being said, when you post, you should elaborate on your league (point system, number of teams, etc.). It would not change your keepers in this particular instance, but always good to know more . FYI, some people use a signature to display thei league settings.

I'm keeping Tarasenko, Seguin, Karlsson and Holtby.

I know Tank's salary is high, but he's one of your best players and in a limited keeper, if it's not crazy (and I don't think his salary is crazy for the production he brings) you keep your best players.

You're right on Seguin, Holtby, Karlson. No brainers. The 4th for me is a tossup - depends on league settings but Josi is hard to argue with. Karlson and Josi for 11.25 million? Yes please.

League has 10 teams

The problem i have with the league i'm in guys load up on high salary cap players and then fill their bench with AHL'ers..

I strive to have every single player on my team to be playing in the NHL and no chance of being sent down.

Holtby, no brainer, seguin no brainer, josi IMO no brainer

faulk is a number 1 d for his team, gets offensive fantasy points, hits blocks and everything else. Hes a 7.5 mil player playing for 5.5. Maybe take the cap reduction if you think you can out draft the other players


Cap space is your best asset in a league like this. Use it to your advantage

you would keep Josi & Faulk over Erik Karlsson?? I'm thinking you didn't see that was his 3rd dman listed.

and I'm torn between Tank & Josi... starting 4D and 9 F I'd lean toward keeping Tank, if it were start 5/6D then Josi for sure.

I think Tarasenko, Seguin, Karlsson, and Holtby. Like Axeman said, Tarasenko isn't overpaid for his value. Stone and Josi would be my next picks for value-sake, but I'd look to the draft to pick value players.
