[TRADE] Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson

Am I the only guy that thinks that Hall is incredibly overrated? He's talented physically but his hockey smarts and decisionmaking are not that great... and he doesn't seem that coachable. I think from a pure hockey standpoint, Edmonton is way ahead on this one... a top pairing D is harder to find (and more important to team success) than a star winger.

Larsson is turning into a very good shutdown pairing, but he's no 1/2 Dman the Oilers desperately need.

So now they are down one of their best players and continue to search for a puck moving Dman. I don't like their odds now considering they just dealt their best trade chip.

As a huge Oilers fan, I like this trade.

Hall is a great player, but the Oilers have needed a culture change for years. THIS IS IT. Finally the bold move the fans have been waiting years for.

Larsson will be a stabilizing factor on defense.

As I said in an earlier post, this could end up being true but right now, it doesn't appear that Chiarelli got what he truly needed; a legit puck moving Dman with offensive abilities.

Only thing Larsson has going for him in Edmonton for that trade is his contract. 6 years @ just over 4m... But then again, that's all he's worth..

Other thoughts...

-getting Puljujarvi in the draft likely made it easier to deal Hall, though I'm sure they tried desperately to offer RNH instead.
- the Oilers still have three centers, so I think RNH will still be dealt.
- Larsson is a RHD, which is so rare to find in the NHL.
- With Larsson and Nurse, Edmonton could have one of the most dominant #1 pairings in the NHL in a few years. With McDavid and Draisaitl down the middle. That's the way to build a contending team. I'm super thrilled.

Yep. I would have traded Eberle after his magical 70 pt season. Eberle is the bum, but they traded Hall. Incredible.

Larsson is that, but no one saw it on New Jersey. He will bring those things...just wait and see. The kid is very legit.

I've always believed Chirellis has been living off the Kessel deal. I even gave him a break for the Seguin trade. This certifies it for me what a dud.

And oh by the way Lucic = Clarkson 2.
Ok he's better but if he signs for 7 years at 7m that's ugly.

it hurts to lose Hall, but the market for right-handed dmen is at a premium. I think New Jersey will miss Larsson more than the Oilers will miss Hall.
