But the Hawks LOVE to tell people how much of a model franchise they are and they like to portrait this clean image even though it couldn't be further from the truth.

True. I'm not saying Kessel is as good as Kane, but, if he didn't work out with Crosby, not sure Kane would either. Crosby just seems to work better with tier 2 type players for some reason.

I don't see Pittsburgh wanting to break up the team if they don't have to, and the salary balance between the two teams probably doesn't make much sense either.

It doesn't really have anything to do with the skill of the player, just the play style. IE Crosby and Jamie Benn would probably be awesome together, Crosby and Phil/James Neal were not. I don't think Sid and Kane would mesh that well.

Kane wants the puck on his stick. He doesn't need a playmaking center. He is the playmaker. The reason he meshed so well with Anisimov and Panarin is that Panarin deferred to Kane to a fault while Anisimov pretty much stayed out of the way taking faceoffs and playing responsible D.

Kane would not mesh well Crosby IMO.

I don't even give it 20%. The Pens just won the cup, one of the biggest reason for that was, that they had 3 scoring lines, so it was impossible for the opponents to shut all of them down. No need to change that strategy now.

Malkin is also very happy in Pittsburgh, so i don't see him pushing for a trade either.

Hey I'm not berating the site or Dobber for bringing it up here as I heard about this before it was posted on the site....the smh was in reference to the tweeter....someone was likely a little anxious after the action from Monday.

Malkin traded to Chicago? Methinks not. Malkin traded somewhere? Just maybe.....

With the emergence of HBK and with Hornqvist not having gelled with Malkin during their time together, Pittsburgh is squandering Malkin. Sure - Malkin's presence on another line, even without great wingers, does add protection to the HBK line, but is that enough to justify what Malkin makes? And will Malkin be content in that role? I think it's worth exploring for the Pens, which is what they're likely doing at this point - exploring.
