Buffalo should start thinking about getting some players not playing center.

If Stamkos doesn't sign in Buffalo, then he is their best player as early as next season.

I'm high on Eichel but we're talking real life hockey here. Ryan O'Reilly is a "less media hyped" version of Patrice Bergeron(top5-10 forward in the NHL) and Steven Stamkos a two time 50 goal scorer. Eichel isn't there yet.

It would be Eichel placed on the wing as O'Reilly is one of the best two-way center in the NHL.

Ya, I just don't think Buffalo is going to be high on Stamkos list of destinations. I'd be willing to take less money to play elsewhere.

Stamkos is going to Toronto. If he wanted to sign in T.B I'm fairly positive it would have been done already. Buffalo makes absolutely no sense to me considering he has stated over and over again he wants to play center. I think he made up his mind a long time ago where he wanted to be and that is his hometown. I even feel he will take a small discount to come here as he sure as hell will make that up in extra endorsements. That is my feelings on it any how. I have bet a good amount on it even...

I seriously doubt that he's going to Buffalo for the reasons given throughout, but on the other hand I think the whole "hometown" thing tends to be overblown more often than not.

One thing should be noted.

If Stamkos signs anywhere for 12M it will strictly be about the money. Not what position he is going to play.

well the Sabres COULD structure an offer with a 12 million start that tapers off over time. One possible reason the number 12 comes up

I think the team is better off going with what they have and building something from within and or via trade
