Hoffman for prospects/pick?

For the league in my sig I approached the Hoffman owner looking to see if he was available. Before I could even send my own offer he sent one my way.

The initial offer was Hoffman for Dvorak/Zacha, Matheson and 9th overall (2016). I talked him down to two of the three pieces so he moved Matheson out of the equation.

Would you move Dvorak (I prefer to keep Zacha) and 9th overall for Hoffman?

I think Dvorak is a special talent but getting a 55-65pt guy like Hoffman in a 22-team league is gold. I would hold back myself (bias as I own Dvorak), but if you need the firepower now, Hoffman is good for 25g and 55pts with a shot a 60 on a given year IMO.

I really like Dvorak myself, having read about him a lot before he was scooped up by the Coyotes in the 2nd round (draft was deep, but I think getting him at 58 was a steal) so I don't mind holding onto him.

I agree with this, and I think I would do Zacha + 9 for Hoffman.

I like Hoffman's chances of having a career year this season. He's still young enough that he has room to grow and he's getting his old junior coach back. The 9th pick in this year's draft will not be relevant in your league for at least 3 years. Zacha/Dvorak are both at least 1 and likely 2 seasons away from being any where near 40 point guys. This deal definitely makes your team better for the next two seasons and it MIGHT hurt you after that. That's a chance I would be willing to make with the lineup you have in your league.

Hoffman is 19th in the NHL in goals scored over the past 2 seasons with very little PP time.

I like the idea of moving Dvorak and Zacha for Hoffman. I'm trying to see if I can use my 9th pick to move up to 4 or 5 (same GM owns both).

If I could package a few assets to get Hoffman and Tkachuk/Dubois I'd be pretty happy.

Just to be clear....

Zacha > 9th overall
Dvorak > 9th overall

What I meant in my post is that Hoffman is worth both of them IMO.
