If the Oilers call up Brossoit to back up for Talbot for the rest of this season, their management is worse than I even imagined. Their AHL team is in a dogfight for a playoff spot. The Oilers should be sending down anyone who is waiver exempt (except McDavid and possibly Draisaitl) to help Bakersfield make the playoffs.

Maybe the Oilers are going to let Brossoit play the season out in Edmonton. While I agree he would help their AHL team in the playoffs, he would help himself even more by playing well down the stretch in Edmonton.
For all we know, Chiarelli isn't done trading yet and could bring in another backup down the stretch too and send Brossoit back down.
Lots of unknowns right now.

I can see the Oilers swinging another deal soon where an AHL vet goalie comes back in the deal to play backup. I wouldn't like putting Brossoit in games on a team torn apart by the trade deadline.
