Wings have agreements in principle with Chelios and McCarty.

Chelios has agreed to a one-year deal at slightly less than 0.85M, but the contract will only be signed when Chelios is next in Detroit, which will be next week.

McCarty has agreed to a one-year, two-way deal similar to Downey\'s (0.575M in the NHL), but is waiting to see if the NHLPA announces before camp starts (Sept. 20th) whether it will waive its option to open the CBA up, in which case he would be able to get some bonuses added to his contract.

Kyle Quincey is close to being signed to a two-year deal.

Kopecky and Holmstrom, who were both injured, believe they\'ll be ready for camp.

Comment: These moves will take them slightly over the cap, but if they are willing to start the season with only 22 players in the roster, sending two of Downey, Darren Helm, and McCarty to the AHL, they should be just at the cap.
