Ehlers as the skater to own in the second half as his Ice time will see the largest positive bump

Rinne as the Goalie to own down the stretch .....he has the best return in my view as far as 2nd half performance compared to 1st half accomplished

Would like to see this happen, but with Scheifele in the picture, I can't see his ice time getting a significant boost.

I think predicting great things based on someone playing on a line with a star has to be taken with a huge grain of salt these days, for two reasons.
    1. IN the Tampa case, Stamkos has shown little evidence since broken leg/loss of MSL that he's an elite top-10 player. Heck, a lot of us thought he'd challenge Crosby for points title not long ago. I am not sure what his pace is, but if it's 65-70 and he's guaranteed #1 pp, a linemate who won't get the same pp time is unlikely to put up great numbers. Look at Oshie, playing with two superstars and pp#1 and he's still a 50-point putz. So I'm not all that excited about that tampa centre with the hard-to-spell name.
    2. Coaches shuffle lines so much, so it's just too unpredictable. If ur in a league where you can stream, fine, but i'm not.

Not sure I agree - I have watched a few the Tampa games and Namestnikov was doing everything right. It will not matter who he plays with provided he continues to play this way - if anything he will give Stamkos a boost due to the chances he creates.

As for 2nd half players - I also like Ehlers and they will find a way to get him more ice time. I like the comments on Galchenyuk (as I have him), but do not see it this year as seems like he has yet to mature and take the game seriously.

I'm watching Ehlers with great interest but i saw his hat trick and i wouldn't get too carried away, a lot of players would have scored on those sweet set-ups.

Ehlers. Has battled inconsistencies and low ice times throughout the year but he's finally settling nicely on a top line with a 55 point scheifele and a 70 point wheeler.

25 in his last 35 is my guess. Or hope

right now i'd say Schenn is the 2015-16 Stone or 14-15 Palat -- 27 points in 26 games since jan. 1.

My vote here is Hertl. I saw the Sharks play live on Sunday, and that Big Joe-Little Joe-Hertl line is great. Don't underestimate the Sharks in the West.

Ghost was putting up elite forwardesque numbers there for a while.

Dylan Larkin, Connor McDavid, and Max Domi will have strong second half showings, I think.

Schenn & Simmonds are two for me, both playing top line with Giroux on at the moment.

Just traded the disappointing and now Ranger Eric Staal for Hertl. Would never have done this at the start of the season, but I was actually considering dropping Staal. I'm interested to find out their point totals the rest of the way.

Hertl's done some nice things but at the moment he doesn't qualify, with 18 points in 26 games. Simmonds a little closer, i think 23, but i also don't think he qualifies as he's been around for quite a while and has lots of hot streaks. I'd be surprised if he ends up around a point a game by end of season.

I'm talking about guys who have been in the league a few years, people figured they were 40-55 point guys and were therefore fantasy irrelevant, and they play that way, and then suddenly after Jan 1 they play at elite point-a-game levels rest of way. And then the next year they prove it wasn't a fluke. Tyson Barrie was another one a couple of years ago.

Still a ways to go so i will occasionally revisit this, to see if Schenn fades and maybe someone else emerges. Or perhaps this doesn't happen every year.

    Schenn 30 points in 29 games since Jan 1 after tonight's two-bagger.

In what possible way would Larkin, McDavid or Domi fit the definition of the player were looking for in this thread?
