Default [Rumor] Minnesota a good fit for Drouin?

Minnesota is interested in acquiring Jonathan Drouin, according to multiple sources.
Wild GM Chuck Fletcher was unsuccessful in his bid to land Ryan Johansen, so he is looking at obtaining Drouin and he has spoken with Tampa Bay GM Steve Yzerman. Sources say that the Lightning asked for Matt Dumba in exchange for the 20-year-old forward.

    i can't believe that's not a done deal if that's yzerman's asking price.

wild are very fortunate to have a good D system and can afford to move Dumba, they can easily call up Reilly or someone similar.

Sources say they are asking for Dumba but for all we know it could just as easily be Dumba + or even Drouin +. Who knows??

Or they could be more interested in using Drouin to move some undesirable contract out.

they need offense. C is definitely the preference but they are rarely available, and i'm sure they tried for Johansen.

Is Drouin worth a roster spot in an auction limited keeper? (on waivers so could be kept for $2)

How can a team with Koivu, Parise, Vanek, Granlund, Pominville and Suter need offence? This is probably a wake up call to Drouin. Wake up or we will trade you to Minnesota, where former scorers go to retire their skills.

I am not a Leaf fan but, I could see the Leafs being in on this with Phaneuf and maybe Parenteau or Komorov?

The last thing the Lightning would want would be Phanuef and that contract.

I don't doubt for a minute that Yzerman would be giving you the Sign of the Evil Eye upon reading your post. There's no way he wants to take on the remainder of Phaneuf's contract. He want a D, but he wants a cheap, young, high-prospect D in exchange for his cheap, young, high-prospect winger.

agreed, phaneuf isnt going anywhere. granted, i refuse to watch leaf games but i hear he has improved under babcock so perhaps he might be tradeable if a bad contract is coming back...carle?

Yes, I have to agree. Wrote it in a rush and realized after that yeah, the contract would be a problem unless a bad one (Carle), went back. Morgan Rielly instead of Phaneuf might work, but Tampa could use a Phaneuf type player. They need to get serious really soon as they seem to have most of the parts.

I think Anaheim would be a better fit....let's say Vatanen + for Drouin +....

Dumba for Drouin makes way too much sense...at least for Tampa. But Minny can afford to do that too to some extent.
