Default Toews vs a second rounder?

Team and league in sig, does Toews worth it at 13.8M? Received the offer from another GM....

If so, I could drop Pominville to fit him in....

He's at 13.8M for the next 3 years....

    Thoughts?

Gotta stay away from Toews in a cap league, especially points only.

Toews is a 70 point player, so you have to pay him $ 197.100 per point.

Just as a comparison players who are in the same point range, or who make it clear how overpaid Toews is in fantasy hockey.

I assumed that all of these players will have 70 points at the end of the season.

Ryan Johansen $ 42.800 per point
    Steven Stamkos $ 107.100
    Henrik Sedin $ 100.000
    Logan Cooture $ 85.700
    Joe Pavelski $ 85.700
    Joe Thornton $ 96.400
    John Tavares $ 85.700
    Claude Giroux $ 128.500
    Sidney Crosby $ 171.400

In a points only league, i wouldn't even claim Toews of waivers, he's just not worth the money.

I don't think he's a 70 point player. He's been on a pt/gm pace for the last 11-12 games but his line is still struggling and he is not creating the scoring chances that he has in the past. Look no further than his linemates. Hossa is just not an offensive threat. He is still playing a near-elite defensive game but his shot is continually in the chest of the goalie. This has been getting worse and worse the last few years. He is far, far, far removed from the sniper he was in his prime. And Toews' other linemate has been constantly changing all season long and is currently Andrew Shaw who is a bottom 6 player.

If it wasn't for Toews' PP and OT production, his stats this season would look extremely poor in relation to his salary and profile. So no, in a cap league I wouldn't consider Toews.

To put things into perspective, about a month ago, Toews manager realized Toews had no business being on a roster in a salary cap league and gave me his first rd rookie pick (10th-12th) and 2nd rd pick just so I'd take Toews off his hands and take his cap hit (salary*0.25) so I agree he has no business in a cap league these days.

Sadly, this is why cap leagues suck. Toews is nowhere near worth his cap hit to fantasy owners. In real life, umm, yep.

In a cap league, no way would Toews be worth it

Last 4 seasons he was exactly that or worse and he topped 70 points only once in his NHL career. His point average per season is 72, so call him a 72 point player, but it doesn't change the fact that he is not worth the money in fantasy hockey.

I'm not looking at what he's done. Right now he is on pace for 54 pts and from watching him play, I don't see any reason to think that is going to increase that pace dramatically.

Sorry i got it wrong, i thought he's more than a 70 point player for you. I assumed the best possible numbers when i did my maths. Even as a 70 point player he's not worth a roster spot, so if he isn't even that, stay away from him.

Cap leagues don't suck. They require more thought and planning than any other type of league. Nothings better than a full dynasty cap league.

Would be better if my league was a cap hit league....but being a actual salary league, it's tough to own a 13.8M guy or a Subban at 11M next season for example....
