    Default [Rumor] NYR/CBJ Trade

    https://twitter.com/Aportzline/statu...87812794847232

Hearing rumblings that #NYR have called, yet again, regarding #CBJ RW Cam Atkinson, who has quickly become a favorite of John Tortorella. - Aaron Portzline
i posted one of his rumors yesterday and it went down so maybe we'll see another trade.

i've always though atkinson was underrated with vrbata like potential (30/30).

not sure why NYR would be interested in him given their forward depth but i suppose goal scoring is always a commodity. i'm sure CLB wouldnt mind acquiring another D...i've heard giradi/staal could be on the move?

NYR/CBJ have had recent trade history so who knows.

I'm a bit shocked that ANYBODY is mentioned as a Torts favourite! LOL.
He strikes me as the type who is tough-love to the point of not letting any player know he likes them.

CBJ is an interesting case because they had 8 solid forwards and are now down to 7 solid forwards.
    As of last game:

    Hartnell - Wennberg - Saad
    Jenner - Dubinsky - Atkinson
    N.Foligno - Johansen[traded] - Campbell
    R.Bourque - W.Karlsson - Boll

So without RyJo... line 3 is week.
And obv, captain Nick Foligno isn't staying on Line 3.
So who is the odd forward out?

Maybe it makes sense to trade one more F (Atkinson?), shift Nick-fo to RW2 and add that other D.
Two solid lines + two decent D pairings DOES seem to make more sense than what they had: Three decent lines + one solid D pairing.

Do the Rags really think they need scoring that badly though???

Personally, I'm not a big Atkinson fan.
I think he shows up on highlight films a lot, but he's a MINUS type overall NHL player IMO.

    Vrbata is a decent comparison.
A high-volume shooter that does not necessarily make a team better (again... IMO).

I think if anything the Rangers would trade CBJ one of the younger C's they have. Perhaps JT Miller?

The Rangers need to figure out their D going forward. Yandle is a UFA at seasons end if they have to decide to move someone to re-sign him or trade him (which is an option here I suppose as well). Skjei, who is their top prospect, is the logical replacement option.

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month

Keith Yandle is not re-signing with the Rangers, and I'm guessing that is due to mutual sentiment. It's a terrible fit and he'd no doubt be leaving $$ on the table.

They won't win the Cup as currently constructed unless Lundqvist puts together another run for the ages but winning a Cup could change a lot about how he perceives the situation. It's likely heading the way you have suggested.

    OMG, shut up!

(Seriously, something needs to be done if that happens. Something as in ditching the draft lottery.)

If the Rangers think that Torts might talk management into giving up something for Girardi, then they're smart to pursue it.

But they may be a day late for that.
